The Rape of Proserpina – Bernini
One of the interesting things to this piece is movement. Movement from within the sculpture itself to all movements of the muscle canvas. The first session is spent setting a foundation, allowing the push and pull of depth further in the following sessions.
I had a different experience with Bernini then the others-Michelangelo, Da Vinci etc. When I was in Rome’s Galleria Borghese, the museum was empty, and everyone left. Every level of the building in complete silence.
When you’re in the presence of genius, nothing else matters. Time stops – and everything is perfect.
